"Are Before and After Photos Really Worth It? Exploring Mitchel's Editing Process"

Updated: Jun 11

I have spent the last two years trying to get better at my craft as a photographer, and there is one thing that makes you stand out as a photographer. There one thing that I think makes a photographer stand out is how they edit their clients' photos. In this small blog post, I will walk you through my editing process.

Maumee Bay
left side (before) and Right side (After)

On the left side is the raw photo(straight out of the camera). On the right is the Final edit of this Picture(edited in Photoshop). I made a lot of changes to this edit I ended up changing the sky to a fake sky to give this photo more depth. My goal for this edit was to create a softer but powerful look for my client. The next thing I ended up doing in this edit was brighten up the rock she was sitting on to match the lighting of my fake sky.

As like the other photo above the raw(unedited) photo is on the left and the final edit is on the right. Now this edit did not to many changes as well. As you can see on the right side I have changed the dress from a light purple color to a light blue. The next thing I did was change the sky to create a moody photo and add some more depth. The last thing I did for this edit was brighten up the sand to have your eyes help you lead to my subject.

Now this was such a fun one this client came to me because he loves music and likes to create music as well. The raw photo which is located on the left side is shot straight out of the camera. My thought process for this edit was to somehow come up with a way that tell you my client love music so I decided to to add the music notes to tell the story. I then create a spotlight which is located on the top left corner to create more of a music/stage vibe to this photo.

This was another great before-and-after edit that I created with one of my clients. My client allowed me to lead the concept on this shoot. My intention with this shoot was to show power but also beauty as well. I wanted to add the flame as a way to draw your focus to my client. After I add the flames I decide crop the photo some more to really focus on her. I then decide to make her Tattoo darker to create more depth and so you could see them as well. After adding the flames around here I added the heart flame to give it a final touch.

Can you see yourself with awesome photos like these on your next shoot?
